2024 STUDIOS ON HIGH HIT THE HOP SHOW SUBMISSION PROSPECTUS
About the Hit the Hop Show
Located in the Short North Arts District since 1987, Studios on High Gallery is the oldest artist owned and operated gallery in Columbus Ohio. Each year the gallery presents Hit the Hop, our annual, open call, juried exhibition open to Ohio artists. Accepted artists will be featured in a month-long group show, gallery hop and an artist’s opening.
This year’s show will be held from March 2 - April 4. A $500 first prize , a $200 second prize and People’s Choice award (entrance fee waived) will be announced at the artist opening on March 3rd.
This year’s theme is Mood Indigo. Artist’s are asked to submit artwork that relates to the color indigo or any color between blue and purple.
Please read these guidelines carefully. We have made a few changes since last year including size restrictions.
Guidelines
Original two-dimensional and three-dimensional visual art works, including photography, will be considered. Please keep in mind the theme of the show.
Work must be completed within the last 3 years.
Dimensions and weight limits: 2D artworks will not exceed 24” in length or width. 3D artworks will not exceed 40 lbs.
There is a $35 entry fee for up to two (2) works. Fees are due at time of submission and are non-refundable.
Entry fee payment does not guarantee acceptance into the Hit the Hop exhibition.
All entries are due by 11:59PM on February 9, 2024. No exceptions will be made.
Acceptance, non-acceptance notifications will be sent via email on or before February 20, 2024 unless otherwise determined.
All accepted work must remain at Studios on High Gallery for the entirety of the art show and remain as it is presented upon submission and delivery.
Studios on High Gallery Hit the Hop Committee maintains the right to reject any work that differs from the corresponding entry information or that fails to maintain the exhibit's standards.
Studios on High Gallery reserves the right to reproduce images of accepted work for promotional purposes of the Hit the Hop exhibition..
Studios on High Gallery will handle artwork with the greatest of care. However, insurance, if desired for shipping, exhibition or any other reason, is the responsibility of the individual artist. Studios on High Gallery will not be liable for loss or damage to any work submitted to this art show.
Accepted artists are responsible for shipping artwork if sold.
All artwork must be for sale.
Studios on High Gallery takes 25% commission of the listed price from the artist for work sold.
Artists are responsible for the payment of any and all applicable taxes.
Delivery/Return
Accepted works should be hand deliveredto Studios on High Gallery (686 North High St., Columbus Ohio 43215) February 28 - 29, 2024 between 12pm and 5pm. Please note: All 2D work must be framed and ready to install upon delivery with hanging wire. If a piece is not framed, it must be on gallery wrapped canvas (at least 1” in depth with no visible staples and the sides painted).
Artists are responsible for picking up their works on April 5th, 2024 between 12-5pm or by appointment after the close of the show. Artwork may not be removed prior to the conclusion of the exhibit.
